“Cheerful Goodbye” recorded in 2015 was my first completely self-penned album. It was a time of personal and financial crisis… I had the blues, and they were the breeding ground for these compositions.
‘’The Steep Incline’’ recorded in 2016 contains 13 very personal songs about relationship break-ups, injustice and bad behaviour – including mine, no-one’s been spared. It’s all there in sleeve notes!
Both albums were recorded and produced by my good friend Rene Kaaij of Seafront Music in the Hague. Rene and I play more than a dozen different instruments on the albums, and the results of our musical conversations and shared humour are present in every note. Our close collaboration in the studio and the synergy between us is a great example of Aristotle’s saying “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”.
We also were pleased to work with singers including Lydia van Mourik-Wever, Talita Angwarmasse, Joel Groenewold, Leo Sienot, Cindy Oudshoorn, Helen Botman, Brenda Dor-Groot, Hans van Beek and Sabina Hendrikx.
